It’s just a Walk in the Park with the ACS!

Summer Walks in the Park

Since a major part of the mission of the Allegheny City Society includes: “To support efforts to preserve “The Commons,” monuments and landmarks in Allegheny City,” ACS is planning several interesting walks through the Commons to highlight the historic significance of this wonderful urban jewel in our neighborhood.  Each walk and talk will focus on one area of the park.

Wed. July 13thLake Elizabeth area and North Promenade.   Maine Memorial, Civil War Monument, Washington, Humboldt, Lake Elizabeth,  the former site of the penetentiary and conservatory, (now the National Aviary,)  and The Promenade.

Meet at the Civil War  Monument, 7:30PM.

Wed. August 17thThe East Commons — Fountain plans, Elks Fountain, Hampton Memorial, the pilot project.

Meet at the flower bed at the corner of North & Cedar, 7:30PM.

Wed.  Sept. 14th Allegheny Square —  Anderson monument, Children’s Museum Plans, various images 7:30PM.

Cost: $10 per tour, which will include  a copy of our DVD: “Allegheny City’s Glorious Parks

Proceeds will benefit the Allegheny Commons Initiative.
